I hear you been to Heaven’s gate

You rock-pushin’ days. They’re all done.

So up you went through the clouds and the snow

And you saw your little town slip away below.

And the earth became a pearl of blue

As the pearly gates came into view.

Then up stepped the man with the register

Sayin’ Ruben Smith, we want your signature here.”

Ruben Smith!” you exclaimed with glee,

“Why my name’s Ruben MacAfee.”

So down, down, down the angels took you

If it wasn’t your turn, they weren’t about to book you.

And they turned back the tides and they turned back the clock

And here you are again just pushin’ that rock.
