Just One Lucky Break
Johnny Jones stood on the corner
lookin’ like a statue of a sad, sad clown.
He held up a sign that said, “I will work for food”
And showed it to the cars on their way downtown.
When I rolled down my window
Cuz the traffic was snarled up ahead
Johnny came over and talked with me and said:
“Just One Lucky Break. I’ll do the rest
To turn my ever-growing list of failures into success.
One lucky break, that’s all I’ll need and then
If at first I don’t succeed, I’ll just try again.
Johnny Jones walked over to a phone booth
And stuck his finger in the slot.
He said, “Ain’t it a shame how this phone box
Has got more cash than I got”.
Meanwhile some Little Jack Horner
In his corner eating his Christmas pie
Sticks in his thumb and gets a golden plum.Lucky guy.
“Just One Lucky Break. I’ll do the rest
To turn my ever-growing list of failures into success.
One lucky break, that’s all I’ll need and then
If at first I don’t succeed, I’ll just try again.
