The Wall

Like umbrellas in a hurricane you know you can't keep the rain away.
And parachutes if you jump from a plane make it plain how quick you drop the more you weigh.
But you can tell your children that you saw them buildin' the wall between tomorrow and today.
Great Granpappy was happy when the telephone came along
And your Poppa maybe he flew in a chopper in the war between the pitiful and the strong.
But you can tell your children that you saw them buildin' the wall that was a generation long.
I get the chills from my favorite ills thinking 'bout everybody choosing up sides.
Worlds collide, roller coaster ride. Everybody up and down getting' hard to hide.
You can tell your children that you saw them buildin' the wall that was authority wide.
But 'taint too late to cultivate. A plot of land, water and a roof.
Get outta town, take the kids. Either you salute or you commute.
But you can tell your children that you saw them buildin' the wall between the people and the truth.
Don't give up. The jig ain't up. Even the mighty must fall.
Even AI can't disguise a lie. Some people gotta lotta gall.
You can tell your children that you saw them buildin' the wall that was a million lies tall.
Teach the old dog new tricks. 2026. A year to make history.
Shake off the cobwebs. Sack the deadheads.
Jump up and shout this is me.
Don't catch yourself buildin' a wall for your children.
Don't catch yourself buildin' a wall for your children.
Don't catch yourself buildin' a wall for your children.
This is the land of the free.
